Made 29 appearances with two starts in 2014, one as the Seminole designated hitter and on at catcher…hit .320 and tallied a .469 on-base percentage as a senior…made his season debut against Niagara (2/16), notching a pinch-hit single to left…had an RBI double at Boston College (3/28) in the top of the ninth as part of FSU’s nine-run inning…against Georgia Tech (4/13), threw out the tying run in the bottom of the ninth of a 5-4, FSU victory…against Minnesota (5/4), reached base in all four plate appearances, including a career-high two hits against the Golden Gophers…against Alabama (5/31) in the NCAA Regional, walked with the bases loaded in the ninth to keep the inning alive as the ‘Noles attempted a furious comeback against the Crimson Tide…led all Seminoles with five pinch hits while hitting .455 as a pinch hitter…successfully advanced runners 52.9% of the time at the plate.
Appeared in 24 games in 2013…made three starts – two at catcher and one at designated hitter…batted .267 while drawing four walks on the year…was hit by a pitch and had a two-run single against USF (2/23)…started his first game of the year at catcher in the second game of a doubleheader against USF (2/24) and went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a walk…started at designated hitter against Villanova (3/2) and went 0-for-1 with a walk …started at catcher against Stetson (3/19) and drew a walk…went 1-for-2 in game one of a doubleheader at Georgia Tech (3/22)…had hits in three straight games against Wake Forest (4/27 & 4/28) and Stetson (5/7)…had only one strikeout in 36 plate appearances.
Appeared in nine games with four starts during his freshman campaign at Alabama…hit .188 with three hits – two of which went for doubles…scored four runs…finished the season perfect from the field in 36 chances.
Played catcher for one season at Chipola Junior College…helped the Indians to a 2011 state title and a fifth place finish in the National Tournament…member of the Panhandle Conference Championship team…garnered second team All-Conference honors in 2012.
Earned first team All-State (2009 & 2010) at Creekside High School…participated in the Junior Pan American Games and was a member of the U-16 U.S. National Team in 2008 and U-18 U.S. National Team in 2009…played on two gold medal-winning teams for Team USA Baseball in 2008 and 2009…earned St. John’s County Player of the Year, Creekside High School Male Athlete of the Year and Creekside High School Offensive Player of the Year accolades all in 2009…capped the year by being named FCAC First-Team All-District V catcher.
Son of Ladson and Angie Montgomery…has three sisters, Amanda, Kelsie and Samantha…comes from an athletic family, all of his sisters are accomplished gymnasts and brother-in-law, Troy Garside, played football at Georgia Tech…goes by the nickname “Laddy”… majoring in interdisciplinary social science…born March 2, 1992.
