2021-22 ACC Impact Freshman (CBS Sports)
2022-23 ACC Breakout Player (Field of 68)
I wear No. 1 at Florida State because it’s a number that I played well in when I was younger. I wanted No. 2 (the number I wore in high school but it wasn’t available for my freshman season because Anthony Polite wears it).
Jalen Warley is the sixth player in Florida State history to wear No. 1. Both of the last two players (Jonathan Isaac and RaiQuan Gray) who wore the number were NBA Draft picks. Isaac with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic while Gray was the 58th selection in 2021 by the Brooklyn Nets.
My full name is Jalen Joseph-Benjamin Warley. Jalen comes from a combination of my dad’s name (Jason) and my mom’s name (Gretchen). My middle name comes from both of my grandfathers’ first names (Joseph on my mom’s side and Benjimin on my dad’s side).
The city of Mount Airy is a suburb of Philadelphia and is about 20 minutes from downtown. The three words I would use to describe my hometown are supportive, competitive and prideful.
