I will wear No. 15 at Florida State because that’s the number that I wore at Hanninger High School.  I wore the number when we played in the state championship playoffs as a junior.

Quincy Ballard is the 24^th player in school history to wear uniform No. 15. The No. 15 – which was worn for the first time in Florida State history in 1949 by Art Adams – was worn by Terrance Shannon as a member of the Seminoles’ 2012 ACC Championship team and by Dominik Olejniczak as a member of the Seminoles’ 2020 ACC Championship team. The No. 15 was also worn by John Amick in 1972 when the Seminoles played UCLA in the NCAA National Championship game.

My full name is Quincy Tyshon Ballard.  My mom and dad have always been fans of the name Quincy.  We always felt that people who were named Quincy were destined for big things.  One of our most favorite people named Quincy is Quincy Jones.  Tyshon, my middle name, was given to me by my older brother, Kay’ron, who wanted to have a part in choosing my first name.

My hometown of Syracuse, N.Y. is not too big and not too small – it’s a perfect size.  It has convention sites that attract a lot of people and is near the mountains in Western New York state.

Played in 36 games in two seasons as a Seminole during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons…entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal on March 21, 2022 as he declared his intentions to end his career at Florida State University…announced on April 16 that he would attend Wichita State University to continue his collegiate academic and athletic career…Helped lead Florida State to 35 wins and to a 35-21 record in his two seasons as a Seminole…helped Florida State to an 18-7 overall record and an 11-4 mark in ACC play and helped Florida State advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in his first season in Tallahassee…earned playing time for the first time in the NCAA Tournament in Florida State’s win over Colorado (March 22) and against Michigan in the Sweet 16 (March 28)…also helped the Seminoles advance to the ACC Tournament championship game as he earned playing time in the Seminoles’ 69-66 win over North Carolina in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament…Florida State’s victory over the Tar Heels in the ACC Tournament sent the Seminoles to the ACC Tournament championship game for the fourth time in school history…participated in the Super 60 Showdown in Raleigh, N.C. following his senior season at the Quality Education Academy…played for the Gym Ratz AAU Team in New York…began playing organized basketball in 2016 and has developed into an impressive player with a very high ceiling.

Averaged 0.9 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.6 blocked shots as he played in 18 of the Seminoles’ 31 games…helped the Seminoles to a 17-14 overall record and a 10-10 mark in ACC play in his second season as a member of the program…Scored his season-high of 4 points at Duke (Feb. 19) and against Syracuse in the ACC Tournament (March 9)…a career-high tying 4 rebounds came against Lipscomb (Dec. 15) and UNF (Jan. 20)…totaled 2 points, 3 rebounds and 1 blocked shot in Florida State’s 105-70 win over Penn in its 2021-22 season opener at the Donald L. Tucker Center (Nov. 10)…totaled 4 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in 6 minutes of playing time in Florida State’s 97-60 win over Lipscomb at the Donald L. Tucker Center…scored 2 points with 2 rebounds and an important blocked shot in a career-high 13 minutes of playing time in Florida State’s 76-71 win over his hometown school, Syracuse, in the Carrier Dome (Jan. 15)…earned 2 points, 4 rebounds and 1 blocked shot in 8 minutes of playing time in Florida State’s 86-73 win over UNF at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee…scored 4 points on a perfect 2 of 2 shooting from the field in Florida State’s game against Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium …totaled 4 points, 1 rebound and 1 blocked shot in Florida State’s game against Syracuse in the second round of the ACC Tournament at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. (March 9).

Averaged 1.2 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.3 blocked shots as he played in 18 of the Seminoles’ 25 games during his first season as a Seminole…earned increased playing time as he continued to acclimate himself into Florida State’s system and as he grew more comfortable with the speed of the college game…averaged more than a full minute played per game in 10 ACC games as compared to his play in eight non-conference games (4.5-3.5)…helped Florida State to an 18-7 overall record and an 11-4 mark in ACC play…the Seminoles finished in second place in the ACC standings, advanced to the ACC Tournament championship game and to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament…demonstrated his shooting touch as he shot better than 70 percent from the field (.714) in his 18 appearances as a freshman…earned playing time in each of the Seminoles’ four wins over ranked teams during his first season – No. 25 Florida, No. 20 Clemson (80-61, Jan. 23), No. 7 Virginia (81-60, Feb. 15) and against Colorado in the NCAA Tournament (71-53, March 22)…made his collegiate debut with two points and one rebound in seven minutes of playing time in the Seminoles’ season-opening 86-58 win over North Florida at the Donald L. Tucker Center (Dec. 2)…also earned playing time in Florida State’s win over Indiana (69-67 in overtime, Dec. 9) and at Florida (83-71, Dec. 12)…played in his season-high of 11 minutes in Florida State’s 88-71 win at Miami in Coral Gables (Feb. 24)…a breakout game against the Hurricanes with his career-high of eight points, his career-high of four rebounds and his career-high of three blocked shots in the Seminoles’ victory over the Hurricanes on the road in ACC play…his eight points came on four of five shooting from the field (.800 percent) as he scored a phenomenal ratio of eight points in 11 minutes of playing time…was a perfect two of two from the free throw line and totaled two points in Florida State’s 91-85 overtime win over Wake Forest at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee (Feb. 13)…earned one minute of playing time in Florida State’s 71-53 win over Colorado in the NCAA Tournament at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis, Ind…the win sent the Seminoles to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season (March 22)…earned two minutes of playing time with one rebound and one blocked shot in Florida State’s game against Michigan in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. (March 28).

Graduated from the Quality Education Academy after spending his senior season and a postgraduate year at the Winston-Salem, N.C. school in 2018-19 and 2019-20…averaged 14.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 6.0 blocked shots during his postgraduate season at QEA…led the Fighting Pharaohs to a 12-11 record during his postgraduate season of 2019-20…Led QEA to a 15-3 record as a senior in 2018-19.

Played for one season (2017-18) at Henninger High School in Syracuse, New York…led the Black Knights to the sectional playoffs in the state championship tournament in his only season.

Born July 28, 2001…Quincy is the son of Regina and Luevell Ballard…has one older brother, Kay’ron, and one younger brother, Jordan…enjoys drawing, editing videos and spending time with his family and friends…chose Florida State over Syracuse, Cincinnati, N.C. State and Maryland.
