There is no particular reason why I will wear No. 0 during my career at Florida State. I wore the same number at Northern Idaho and I really like the way it looks. It’s a unique number and I feel that I’m a unique player.

Evans is the third player in school history to wear No. 0 following Pierre Jordan (2009-11) and Phil Cofer (2015-19). Both Jordan (2009, 2010 and 2011) and Cofer (2017, 2018, and 2019) were members of three NCAA Tournament teams and both played in one ACC Championship game (Jordan in 2009 and Cofer in 2019).

My full name is RayQuan Ethan Evans.  My dad took the name of one of the singers, Raekwon, from the 1990’s band Wu Tang Clan, and put his own spin on the spelling for my first name.  Ethan, from the Bible, came from my mom.  The name Ethan means strong, firm and long-lived.

My hometown of Billings, Montana, is in southern Montana.  It’s a very simple place where I enjoyed growing up.  One of the most unique things about Billings is that it is home to the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument where Lieutenant George Custer was killed.

Earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from Florida State University on April 23, 2021…the best of his three seasons at Florida State came during the 2022-23 season as he averaged career-high statistics for points (8.0), rebounds (2.5), assists (3.2) and steals (1.5)…led the Seminoles in assists and steals in his final season…one of the top free throw shooters in school history, he finished his career ranked third in Florida State history with a .823 career free throw shooting percentage…his .855 free throw shooting percentage for the 2022-23 season is tied for the sixth best single-season free throw shooting percentage in school history…he finished his career as one of only eight players in school history with a career free throw shooting percentage at .855 or better…started 18 games as Florida State’s point guard in leading the Seminoles to a second place finish in the ACC standings, the championship game of the ACC Tournament, the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament and the a No. 10 final national ranking in the ESPN Coaches Poll…played five seasons of college basketball – two at North Idaho College and three at Florida State…decided to play in his fifth season after participating in Senior Day ceremonies with his teammates on March 3, 2021 against Boston College at the Donald L. Graduated from Billings Skyview High School in 2017…earned All-State honors as named by USA Today…earned Class AA All-State First Team and Eastern Class AA All-Conference First Team honors as a senior…averaged 18.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game as he led the Falcons to a third place finish in the state championship tournament as a senior…totaled 38 points in the consolation final to secure Skyview’s third place finish…averaged 14.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists as a junior…played in the Montana-Wyoming All-Star game following the conclusion of his senior season…scored 10 points to lead Montana to the 93-78 victory in the first game of the All Star weekend…totaled 12 points in the second game which was also won by Montana.

Born September 16, 1998…RayQuan is the son of LaVern OldElk and Israel Evans…a member of the Crow Tribe and Greasy Mouth clan… spent a portion of his childhood on the Crow Indian Reservation near Hardin, about an hour east of Billings…his dad played basketball at the University of Montana…played two seasons as a forward at Montana (1993 and 1994)…his father averaged 9.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 0.3 blocks during his career…three brothers – Tray, Tye and Cam….originally from (and born in) Georgetown, S.C…moved back to  Montana to begin his freshman year of high school…selected Florida State over Utah State, Washington State, Gonzaga, Georgia, Oregon and Utah…initially committed to Utah State before signing his National Letter of Intent to attend Florida State in April of 2019…earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science in 2021.
