WHY I WEAR MY NUMBER

I wore No. 11 for three years at Ryerson University and I feel like it’s a good number to put me in a strong mindset.  My three years at Ryerson were my best three years of basketball in terms of learning and growing and that’s what I want this season to be for me — lots of learning, lots of growing and finishing my career with a bang.

Tanor Ngom is the 24th player in school history to wear No. 11. The No. 11 was worn by Lorenzo Hands during his standout career at Florida State (1989-93) – a time period when the Seminoles played in four NCAA Tournaments. Hands averaged 2.3 points in 96 career games.

WHAT'S IN A NAME

My full name is Abdoulaye Tanor Ngom. Both my grandfathers from my mom and my dad’s side were called Abdoulaye. My father’s dad was called Tanor as well and that’s where I got my name from. I ask people to call me Tanor because they usually butcher the name Abdoulaye (lol). Tanor is usually easier for people to pronounce.

MY HOMETOWN

Senegal is a warm place with amazing people living there. I haven’t been back in four years, so as soon as I can get my own ticket back I’ll have to go.
