WHY I WEAR MY NUMBER

When I signed to play at Florida State and the coaches asked me which number I wanted to wear, I told them I care about wins and not about uniform numbers. There is no significance to the No. 31 that I will wear during my Florida State career. I wore No. 21 in high school.

Chris Singleton, the No. 1 pick of the Washington Wizards in 2011 wore No 31 during his career as a Seminole (2009-11). He played on three consecutive NCAA Tournaments teams and helped lead Florida State to the ACC Tournament Championship in 2009 for the first time in school history. Singleton earned All-ACC Third Team honors as both a sophomore in 2010 and as a junior in 2011. He was one of the top defensive players in Florida State and ACC history as a two-time ACC All-Defensive Team selection and the ACC Defensive Player of the Year as voted on by the media in 2010 and as a unanimous selection by all 12 ACC coaching staffs in 2011.

WHAT'S IN A NAME

My full name is Wyatt David Wilkes.  I’m not really named after anyone; my parents wanted a name that wasn’t easily nicknamed and one that sounded original.

MY HOMETOWN

My hometown of Orlando, Fla. is filled with a diverse group of people and a lot of things to do. It is a city that anyone would enjoy living in.
