Finished the 2021 season with a 25-13 record, including an 18-12 record on court one and a 7-1 record on court two… finished 19-10 with Molly McBain, 1-1 with Caitlin Moon and 5-2 with Maddie Anderson… was named the CCSA Pair of the Tournament with Maddie Anderson and a Volleyball Magazine Second Team All-American with Anderson… was also named an AVCA Second Team All-American with Molly McBain… Chacon finished with 14 ranked wins and seven wins against top-10 opponents, including wins over No. 8 LMU, No. 6 Cal Poly, No. 10 TCU, No. 1 USC, No. 7 TCU and No. 4 LSU (twice).
Finished 2020 with a perfect 13-0 record, with all of her matches on court one with Molly McBain… was one of six individuals that finished the season undefeated with more than 10 matches played…earned seven wins against ranked teams, including wins over No. 9 Stetson, No. 7 Cal Poly, No. 10 Grand Canyon and No. 4 USC… was named the CCSA Pair of the Week and the AVCA National Pair of the Week on March 4th after a perfect 4-0 weekend with three ranked wins… Chacon and McBain earned a 21-19, 21-17 win over No. 10 Grand Canyon, a 21-16, 21-15 win over No. 17 South Carolina, a 21-6, 21-9 win over College of Charleston and a 19-21, 21-17, 15-10 win over No. 4 USC…did not allow her opponent to score over 10 points in a set six times with McBain…they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 points per set in 13 matches on court one.
Made a big impact in her second season playing, going 27-15 with a majority of her matches on court one… played the whole season alongside Madison Fitzpatrick, winning 23 dual matches and four tournament matches… Chacon and Fitzpatrick’s 27 wins together place them tied for eighth for the most wins by a Seminole pair in a season… the pair went 14-7 on court one, 8-5 on court two and 1-0 on court three… her 14 wins on court one in one season places her tied for sixth in all-time wins on court one…earned CCSA Pair of the Week twice… the first time came on March 6th after a 4-0 weekend against UAB, No. 4 LSU, No. 10 South Carolina and No. 17 FAU on court two… earned her second CCSA Pair of the Week honor after going 3-0 at home against Austin Peay, No. 15 Arizona and No. 10 Stetson, this performance also earned Chacon/Fitzpatrick AVCA/CollegeBeachVB.com pair of the week… her 19-9 regular season record helper her earn first-team All-CCSA…
Earned a 6-1 record in her rookie season and played in a handful of exhibition matches … Saw four consecutive straight-set victories with three different partners … With Bailey Reardon, took down St. Petersburg College’s Fillipo/Ocampos at the No. 4 position to help the Seminoles defeat the Titans at home … Teamed up with 2018 AVCA All-American Tory Paranagua for four dual matches, earning two straight-set victories against Houston Baptists’ Miller/Carter at the No. 4 position and Jacksonville’s Mattingly/Peterson at the No. 3 position, and a three-set victory over Long Beach State’s Reinking/Konstantopoulou at the No. 4 position … Chacon/Paranagua held Miller/Carter to only four points in the second set … With Molly McBain, took down TCU’s Rogers/Arellano in straight sets at the No. 4 position … With Eva Torruella, defeated Jacksonville State’s Jarnagin/Frear 21-15, 21-9 at the No. 4 position.
Chacon spent three years at Crown Point High School where she amassed 1,105 digs (3.25 digs/set), 940 kills (2.76 kills/set), 150 service aces and 133 blocks. She concluded her senior season by earning four major honors including First Team All-State, Defensive Player of the Year, Server of the Year and All-Conference (Duneland).
A 5-9 outside hitter, She enjoyed her third straight 300-kill season as she posted 303 strikes (2.40 kills/set) as a senior. She made her defensive presence felt for the Bulldogs with 40 blocks (35 solo blocks) and a single-season career-high 425 digs (3.37 digs/set). Chacon enjoyed a resurgence in her serve game, recording 55 service aces—one off her single-season high (56) set as a sophomore.
Alaina and her sister Morgan combined for 802 of the Bulldogs’ 1,152 kills in 2016, finishing 1-2 in kills. Under head coach Alison Duncan, Crown Point finished 36-4 overall, capping off a perfect 12-0 season at home, ranking third among teams in the state of Indiana and 49th nationally according to maxpreps.com. The Bulldogs were runners-up at in the Indiana High School Athletic Association 4A State Championship after suffering a 3-1 setback to Cathedral in their first appearance in the finals in program history.
