Entering senior cross country campaign looking to help the Noles back to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season…competed in six cross country meets, earning All-South Region honors for the first time in his career in 2018…returning from injury, which limited him to one indoor track race before he was shut down.
Cross Country: Came on strong over the course of a six-meet campaign…followed a third-place finish vs. Boston University at Franklin Park by finished 32nd at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. It was his highest finish and best 5-mile time (24:38.9) in three career visits to the early-season meet…strong close for fourth at UAB Blazer Classic was followed by a 33rd-place finish at the ACC Championships, just two spots off his career-best (31st) as a freshman…was a catalyst to the Noles’ runner-up South Region finish at home, securing their first NCAA Championships appearance since 2015. Cross placed 17th (31:56.9) – second on the team – as the late-race charge pushed the team on to Wisconsin…was FSU’s top finisher (176th) at the championship meet…selected to All-ACC Academic and USTFCCCA All-Academic teams. Indoor: in lone track race of year, finished second in the 3000 at the Bob Pollock Invitational (8:14.32)…missed the remainder of the season. Outdoor: missed entire season due to injury.
Cross Country: Lined up six times in the fall…opened year placing 19th at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational…top finish came at the FSU Invitational, where he was ninth overall…finished 49th overall as the Noles’ No. 5 runner at the NCAA South Region Championships. Indoor: Saw action in only three meets…ran season-best 5000 (14:51.21) at the Hemery Valentine Invitational…season-best 3000 (8:28.99) came at the ACC Indoor Championships. Outdoor: Won season-debut in 5000 at Yellow Jacket Invitational in personal-best 14:28.04 and earned ACC Performer of the Week honors…punched his ticket to the NCAA East Preliminary 10,000 by running 29:53.78 at the Stanford Invitational.
Cross Country: Finished the season as the Seminoles No. 2 runner as a true freshman…made debut at adidas XC Challenge with sixth-place overall finish (18:14.7, 6k) – third on team – in an FSU victory placed…was No. 3 finisher at Joe Piane/Notrre Dame Invitational…followed with third-place overall finish at FSU Invitational…finished 31st at ACC Championships (24:10.1, 8k), then missed All-South Region honors by one spot, placing 26th (31:17.2, 10k). Indoor: Competed in three events, highlighted by 8:13.66 3000, finishing third at Bob Pollock Invitational…illness forced him out of ACC Championships 5000 final. Outdoor: Sat out the season as a redshirt, but was outstanding in two meets while competing unattached…finished second in his 10,000 debut at Penn Relays (29:31.22), which is faster than Herb Wills’ FSU freshman school record…also won the Seminole Invitational 5000 (14:21.33)…followed up by becoming the second Seminole to win the USATF Junior Championships 10,000 title (Wills was the first in 1979), then claimed gold while representing Team USA for the first time at the Pan American Games in Peru.
Swept FHSAA 3A state titles in cross country and on the track in the 1600 and 3200 as a senior…made his second consecutive Foot Locker National appearance…a three-time state championship qualifier in both the 1600 and 3200, as well as cross country…boasts PBs of 4:13.97 (1600), 9:14.71 (3200) and 15:01.000 (5k cross country)…collected All A Academic Excellence Award each of his final three years at Merritt Island High…also honored for his work in calculus…on track to graduate in the spring with degrees in finance and risk management/insurance…born May 20, 1998.
