Redshirt Senior Season (2015)

Capped a record-setting career at Florida State and will go down as one of the best offensive players in Seminole history…led the NCAA with 73 walks, easily breaking the FSU single-season record and ranked No. 2 all-time in the ACC and tied for No. 11 in NCAA history…batted .264 (42-for-159) with 13 home runs, three doubles, two triples, 38 runs scored and 43 RBI in 2015…led the team with a .494 on-base percentage and was second with a .553 slugging percentage…named to the All-ACC Second Team…set the FSU career walks mark (146) on March 6 against Coastal Carolina…owns Seminole career records with 55 home runs, 198 walks, 216 runs batted in and a .645 slugging percentage…also owns the ACC career record in walks, sits second all-time in the conference in RBI and tied for third in home runs…her 198 walks rank No. 10 all-time in NCAA history…hit a two-run home run and added an RBI double versus No. 7 Michigan on February 14…went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI against No. 20 Cal on February 21 at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic…hit a walk-off RBI single versus Hofstra on March 7 as the Seminoles defeated the Pride, 2-1…hit two triples this season – versus Georgia Southern (Feb. 8) and Bethune-Cookman (March 6)…batted 2-for-2 with two RBI, two walks and a run scored at Florida Atlantic on March 10…went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in game one of the doubleheader at No. 25 Virginia Tech on March 21…tied a career high with four walks in game one of a DH at NC State on April 3…followed that with a 2-for-2 performance with a walk and a two-run home run in game two…hit an RBI single and a two-run home run on Senior Day against Virginia on April 19…had her first multi-HR game of the season and sixth of her career and finished with five RBI at North Florida on May 3…drew a walk and hit a two-run home run in the ACC semifinal game against NC State on May 8…hit a game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the seventh against No. 13 UCF in the NCAA Regionals on May 16…drew at least one walk in 43 games and 2+ walks in 25 games for the season…reached base in 55 of 63 games played.

Redshirt Junior Season (2014)

Recorded one of the best seasons in program history…named NFCA First Team All-American, ACC Player of the Year and was a top 10 finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year as well as one of four finalists for the Honda Sports Award for Softball…set FSU single-season records in home runs (24), RBI (83), walks (56), slugging (.942)…also had the second-best batting average (.424) and tied for third-most in doubles (17) in a season at Florida State…now holds the FSU career records for home runs (42) and RBI (173)…earned the team’s Most Improved, MVP and Batting Title awards at the end of the year banquet…batted .366 with six home runs, 14 RBI, 16 walks, a .805 slugging percentage and .542 OBP against ranked teams in 2014…named ACC Player of the Week three times – Feb. 10, April 7 and April 21…led the NCAA in RBI and was second in home runs and slugging…ranked third in the nation in on-base percentage (.564) and fifth in walks…had multiple RBI in 26 games…reached base in each of the first 50 games of the season…recorded a streak of reaching base in 18 straight plate appearances over five games from April 16-20 where she went 5-for-5 with two doubles, two home runs with seven RBIs, 12 walks (five intentional) and was also hit by a pitch…hit four home runs in five games at Hotel Encanto Invitational in Las Cruces, New Mexico (Feb. 7-9)…hit a grand slam in FSU’s 4-2 victory over NC State on March 15…hit two doubles, two home runs, walked five times, scored five runs, and had three RBI while hitting .667 in a series sweep against Maryland on April 5 and 6…hit two home runs in the same game four times during the season – vs. St. Mary’s (2/8), at Notre Dame (4/13), at Pitt (4/16), and vs. Georgia Tech (5/8)…tied an NCAA record with four intentional walks in game two of a doubleheader at Pitt on April 16…tied ACC Tournament single-game records with two home runs and five RBI against Georgia Tech in an ACC Quarterfinal game on May 8; also tied a career high with three runs scored…hit a home run and added two walks in the ACC Championship Game against Notre Dame on May 10…hit a two-run home run to help force a game three against Michigan in the NCAA Tallahassee Super Regional…led off the game with a single against Oregon on May 29 at the Women’s College World Series…scored FSU’s second run of the game against Baylor at the WCWS and ended the contest with two walks.

Redshirt Sophomore Season (2013)

Showed greater improvement from her first playing season with career-best numbers of 10 home runs and 47 RBIs…batted .271 with 10 doubles, a .548 slugging percentage and a .414 on-base percentage…her 38 walks are the eighth most in school history…had eight multi-hit games on the season…recorded 11 multiple RBI games on the year…virtually flawless at the shortstop position, committing just three errors in 151 chances…did not record a single throwing error in 2013…finished ninth in the ACC in RBIs…tied for sixth in the conference with three triples…tied for third in the conference in walks…reached base in 11 straight games at one point…batted in the cleanup position 29 times…reliable hitter all season with run-scoring opportunities…went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored against Arkansas…reached base in all four plate appearances by drawing three walks and crushing a grand slam on February 28 against Troy…had a season-best four RBIs in that win over Troy…was a perfect 2-for-2 from the plate in the second game of a doubleheader against Virginia with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored…hit a home run in three straight games, all against Virginia…recorded an important two-run home run in an ACC Tournament victory over North Carolina…earned a spot on the ACC All-Tournament Team for the second consecutive year…posted a home run and three RBIs against Georgia Southern on March 16…produced three RBIs against Maryland in a rubber-game win on March 31…walked three times in games against LIU-Brooklyn and Troy…went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs against South Alabama on May 18 in the NCAA Mobile Regional…recorded six RBIs in postseason play (ACC and NCAA Tournament)…had six assists in three games against Maryland (March 31) and Virginia Tech (April 20, 21).

Redshirt Freshman Season (2012)

Established herself as FSU’s best run-producer…despite missing seven games due to concussion-like symptoms, managed to lead the team with 43 RBIs…her RBI total ranks just outside of the Top 10 single-season list in school history…tied for the third-most in the ACC in 2012…finished the year batting .260 with eight home runs, 11 doubles, a .507 slugging percentage and 31 walks…O’Brien led FSU in doubles and sacrifice flies (5)…sixth nationally in sacrifice flies…first in the ACC in sacrifice flies…eighth in the ACC in walks…ninth in the conference with 96 assists…named to the ACC All-Tournament Team after going 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBIs in two games played…led the Seminoles with 11 multiple RBI games…recorded eight multiple hit games…held an eight-game hitting streak…reached base in 10 consecutive games…batted in the third (40), fourth (6), fifth (1) and seventh (8) spots throughout the season…earned the co-rookie of the year award at team banquet…tallied seven RBIs in a doubleheader victory over NCAA Regional team Florida Gulf Coast on March 29…in a doubleheader against Jacksonville on March 20, went 4-for-5 with one home run and six RBIs…had a career day in FSU’s 13-4 win over UC Santa Barbara on March 4, tallying two home runs and six RBIs in the victory…hit a walk-off three-run home run to end the game and give FSU the mercy-rule win…O’Brien’s six RBIs were the most by a Seminole in a game since former player Kaleigh Rafter also drove in six versus Virginia on April 25, 2009…her multiple-RBI performances include six against UC Santa Barbara, five against Florida Gulf Coast in game two of a doubleheader and four against Boston College (April 20)…also posted three 3-RBI performances against Jacksonville and N.C. State…her eight home runs are tied for ninth on the school’s single-season list.

Freshman Season (2011)

Received a medical redshirt after sitting out the season with an ankle injury.

High School

All-state player in freshman and senior seasons at Palm Harbor University High…all-conference, all-county and all-state player during her senior year…Gold Glove winner as a freshman…honor roll student in all four years…won the 2009 18U USA national championship with the Tampa Mustangs, which was coached by Walt Rozanksi, Bob Diez and Tim Mouse…named 5A all-state second team and Gold Glove winner from the St. Petersburg Times as a freshman…member of the National Honor Society…ESPN Rise First Team All American…MaxPreps/Gatorade First Team All American…6A all-state offensive player of the year…6A all-state first team…Pinellas County Player of the Year and All-Suncoast Player of the Year…finished senior season batting .658 with 52 hits, 12 doubles, 4 triples, 7 home runs (2 grand slams) and 53 RBIs.


Born March 26, 1992…majoring in Editing, Writing and Media…daughter of Candi and Mike O’Brien…has one brother…wants to be an analyst for the MLB Network or work for the Tampa Bay Rays…loves to listen to Fiskaa…practices yoga before every game…favorite dessert is frozen yogurt…favorite movie is The Holiday…cannot live without her dog Ryder…favorite home-cooked meal is pork roast with ziti…says consistency, communication, passion and a positive attitude are qualities that make a team leader…idolized Mickey Mantle as a child and wears No. 7 because of him…says the best part of being an ACC student-athlete is all of the tradition.
