Won the consolation final of the 200 back at the ACC Championships with a time of 1:43.63…was 12th in the 100 back with a career best time of 47.80…provided depth in the backstroke races all season behind Pavel Sankovich…won the 200 backstroke in the wins over NC State, Georgia Tech and Alabama…grabbed second in the 200 back against Florida…was fifth in the 200 back to start the season at the All-Florida Invite.


Earned an invite to compete at the 2013 NCAA Championships in the 200 back…swam his career best at the last chance meet at Georgia Tech posting a 1:42.82…also swam the 100 back at NCAA’s…placed 12th in the 100 back before taking fifth in the 200 back at the ACC Championships…earned a second swim in the 200 IM at ACC’s, placing 18th.


Earned a berth in the semifinals of the 200 back at the 2012 Olympic Trials where he finished 12th… took All-ACC honors with a third place finish in the 200 back with a time of 1:44.59 after his prelim swim of 1:43.54 at ACC’s…took ninth in the 100 back at 48.38 and swam in the bonus heat of the 200 IM touching in at a 1:50.65 in prelims.

High School: 

After a spectacular summer, Friedel joins the Seminoles as a 2012 Olympic Trial Qualifier in the 100 and 200 back…finished second in the 100 back at the 2011 Junior National Championship and also turned in the second fastest time in the 200 back at the event…is the top ranked recruit out of Virginia according to…was the Virginia AAA State Champion in the 100 back…is the state record holder in the 100 and 200 meter back as well as the 200 fly…swims for Rappahannock RAYS coached by Bob Herlinger in Fredericksburg, Virginia…was a member of the national youth team during the 2009-2010 season.
