Was a part of the 200 medley relay team that captured All-America honors at the NCAA Championships behind a seventh place finish…also competed in the 400 medley relay at NCAAs… Grabbed bronze at the ACC Championships in the 200 medley relay in school record-timing of 1:23.63…swam in his first individual ACC Championship final taking sixth in the 100 breast with a personal best of 52.81…also won the C final of the 200 breast behind a best time of 1:56.62…was on the winning 200 free and 200 medley relay vs. UIW…placed second in the 100 breast (56.05) vs. No. 18 Alabama and took first in the 200 breast (2:03.49)…finished sixth with a personal best time of 54.16 in the 100 breast at the GT Invite…tied for bronze with teammate Ryan Telford in the 200 breast with a career best of 1:57.29…added a best time in the 50 free at 20.27 and also helped the Noles earn an NCAA provisional time in the 200 medley relay…All-ACC Academic Team and CSCAA Scholar All-American
A member of the Bahamas National Swim Team, Bastain is a five-time FHSAA 1A State Championship finalist and a two-time champion in the 100 breast. He placed fifth at the Junior National Championships – East in the 100 breast with a time of 54.48 and also swam in three finals at the NCSA Spring Junior National Championships. Bastain has competed at the CARIFTA Games, CCCAN, CISC, Commonwealth Youth Games and 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Championships.
