Cross Country: Rock-steady performer as the lone senior on FSU’s 12th-place NCAA Championship team…opened year with a career-best fifth-place finish at the Covered Bridge Open…was 63rd at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational (17:13.6)…was No. 4 finisher on the Noles’ fifth-place Under Armour Pre-Nationals squad in 20:59.9…contributed a career-best 29th-place finish at the ACC Championships (21:38.7) as the Noles placed second…ran 21:04 at the NCAA South Region Championships to finish 30th overall as the Noles won their second straight team title…finished 154th at the NCAA Championships in 21:38.8.
Cross Country: Competed in seven meets and finished in the Nos. 4 or 5 positions six times…posted a career-best third-place finish at Boston University…ran 17.28.4 at Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational for 28th overall as the Noles finished third in their breakout performance…enjoyed her finest ACC Championships finish, placing 44th (21:37) as the Noles were fourth…Mooney was the biggest mover over the final kilometer at the South Region Championships, rallying the team from third to first when she passed nine runners in the closing stretch…finishing 18th, she earned All-Region honors for the first time as the Noles advanced to the NCAA Championships. Indoor: enjoyed her finest winter season to date, establishing two new PBs in four meets…opened with a personal-best 4:52.28 mile at the Clemson Orange & Purple Elite…competed in her first ACC Indoor Championships, racing in the mile and the 3000, where she logged a PB of 9:42.80. Outdoor: continued to build on her successful seasons…dropped a 58-second PB in the 5000 at the Raleigh Relays (16:34.23)…improved her lifetime-best in each of her first three 1500m races…turned in a stunning seven-second best at the ACC Outdoor Championships, advancing to the finals in 4:21.30…that time earned her a spot at the NCAA East Preliminary.
Cross Country: Enjoyed her finest season as a fixture in the Seminoles’ top five…opened year with back-to-back third-place finished at the Covered Bridge Open and Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational…was 35th overall – and No. 1 for the Noles – at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational with a 5k PB 17:07.8…rebounded from a sub-par ACC Championships performance to place 31st at the NCAA South Region Championships in a 6k PB (20:51.5). Indoor: Sat out due to injury. Outdoor: Season cut short due to injury, limiting her to a 1500 at the opening Yellow Jacket Invitational – which she won – and a 2000m steeplechase effort at the FSU Invitational.
Cross Country: Was a major contributor in her freshman season, never scoring lower than fourth for the Noles with an average team finish of 2.8…earned ACC Freshman of the Week honors (Oct. 11) following her sixth place overall finish at the FSU Invitational; the second of three consecutive finishes in the No. 2 spot for the team…ran 17:57.9 for 15th overall in her 5k debut at the adidas XC Challenge…was even faster at the Notre Dame Invitational (17:23.3) over the same distance…was 49th overall and the 13th freshman at the ACC Championships with a 6k season-best 21:23.8…finished fourth on the team for the second consecutive meet at the NCAA South Region (21:37.3). Indoors: Competed in just two meets, opening up with SB 3000 (10:24.34) at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational…ran a 5:10.50 mile at Bob Pollock Invitational. Outdoors: Lined up for six meets…posted PB of 17:32.58 (5000) in a third-place finish at the Yellow Jacket Invitational…her fourth 1500 of the season produced a new PB (4:32.51) at the Seminole Twilight; her final meet of the season.
Brings an impressive resume to FSU which includes 2016 Colorado 5A 3200 state runner-up, 2014 All-State cross country and 2014 5A 1600 bronze…boasts PRs of 2:15.19 (800), 4:33.94 (1500), 4:51.60 (1600), 4:46.59 (mile) and 10:53.70 (3200)…also has a 17:33 5k cross country PB…was the 2014 USATF Junior Olympic national champion at 3000 meters (10:34.22)…three-year member of the National Honor Society and winner of the John Lynch Award…plans to major in hospitality at FSU…mother Carrie Mooney (Boyd) enjoyed a standout distance career at FSU, including a Metro Conference cross country title, and father Chris Mooney also ran on the cross country and track teams for the Noles…born Dec. 4, 1997.
