TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Right-handed pitcher Chris Chavez earned TPX National
Baseball Player of the Week honors from Collegiate Baseball magazine after
he threw Florida State’s first no-hitter in 10 years against Charleston
Southern last Wednesday.

Chavez struck out a career-high 11 batters in the complete game, while
walking just three batters in the 16-0 victory. He was the first Seminole
to accomplish the feat since Jerry Nielsen did it against Baptist College
in 1988.

It is the second time in his career that he has received the award.
