TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The No. 3 Florida State Seminoles completed their
first day of classes for the fall semester as well as an 18-period practice
in shorts and shoulder pads.
The session began with punting and ended with 15 minutes of 11-on-11
“I hope we can make a lot of improvements this week,” said head coach
Bobby Bowden. “We’re trying to correct the mistakes we made in the last
scrimmage (on Saturday).”
“The big thing is that we did improve last week, and especially the
younger guys made strides. The biggest strides have been made in the
“(Thad) Busby threw well in his drills, but the tight ends dropped too
many passes except for (Melvin) Pearsall,” commented Bowden.
Recent scholarship recipient Ryan Sprague moved back from center to tight
end. Tony Bryant has moved from defensive end to defensive tackle.
“We felt our fullbacks were not blocking as well as we like,” said
Bowden. “We’re going to use more of the tight end, so we’re making the
Kickers Bill Gramatica and Sebastian Janikowski were perfect from 47
yards in field goal drills.
INJURY REPORT: Bradley Jennings, LB, left knee MCL sprain; Brian Allen,
LB, right hip flexor. Dee Feaster (bruised shoulder), Laveranues Coles
(separated shoulder), Khalid Abdullah (rt. knee MCL sprain), Marvin Minnis
(ankle) and E.G. Green (quadricep) were held out of practice. Samari Rolle
(ankle), Peter Warrick (lower back), and Travis Minor (ankle) were held out
