FSU Track & Field Teams Compete in ACC/SEC Challenge

GAINESVILLE, FL — The ACC men and women fell to the SEC Saturday at the annual ACC/SEC Challenge, by scores of 264-199 and 277-187, respectively.

Leading the way for the Lady Seminoles was sophomore Zuzette Mullings as she took second in the long and triple jumps. Mullings recorded collegiate best marks of 20-0.50 in the long jump and 41-1.75 in the triple jump. Both are NCAA Indoor provisional qualifying jumps. Also contributing second place points was All-American Rikke Ronholt in the 800m, with an NCAA provisional time of 2:10.05.

The top finishers for the FSU men were Danny Smith in the 800m and Aaron Scheer in the 3K. Smith, a junior from Orlando, ran 1:52.75 and finished fourth while Scheer, FSU’s top cross country runner in the fall, was fourth with a time of 8:34.95.

Both teams continue the indoor season next weekend as they return to Gainesville for the Barnett Bank Invitational (February 7).
