FSU Gets Back on Track with 3-0 Shut Out of Elon College

ELON COLLEGE, N.C. — The Florida State women’s soccer team (4-7) ended a
five-game losing streak and outshot Elon 27-8 in a convincing 3-0 shut out
of the Lady Fightin Christians, Sunday at Bakatsias Field.

Alex Osorio scored what was to become the game-winning goal at the 19:50
mark when she took a pass from Nicole Sedgwick and headed the ball to the
far post past Elon goalkeeper Sommer Cork. Just over a minute later, FSU
scored again when Rachael Watkin got open after an FSU corner kick and
lobbed the ball over Cork’s head from 10 yards out.

After an Elon switch at goalkeeper, Janna Walkup took a pass from Osorio
and kicked it to the far post at 54:43 to end the scoring.

FSU Goalkeeper Melissa Juhl recorded two saves and reserve keeper Jamie
Gurtov played the final 36 minutes of the match.

Florida State returns home to play Stetson at 7 p.m. Friday, October 10th
at Seminole Soccer Field.
