Assistant Director/Recruiting Operations

Adam Van Clay joined head coach Mike Norvell’s first staff in 2020 as assistant director of recruiting operations.

Van Clay returned to Tallahassee after spending the previous two seasons as a recruiting assistant at Clemson. There, he collaborated with the defensive staff on evaluations and organization of recruits. He also coordinated official and unofficial visits to campus. In those two seasons, Clemson compiled a record of 29-1 with two ACC championships and the 2018 national title.

During his first stint with FSU, Van Clay held various roles assisting the Seminoles’ recruiting department from 2015-18. He also has experience in corporate sponsorships with IMG College Wake Forest and the Minnesota Twins and worked as a statistics analyst at Sportsdata LLC. In 2014, he served as running backs coach at Eden Prairie High School in Minnesota as the Eagles produced an undefeated season on their way to the AAAAAA state championship.

Van Clay earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management from High Point in 2013 and completed his master’s degree in sport management with a certificate in coaching from Florida State in 2015.
