Cathy Jones

After seventeen years as the coordinator of athletics financial aid, Cathy Jones was recently promoted to the position of Program Director for Audits and Compliance in the Office of Financial Aid.  She oversees all aspects of the athletic scholarship process including awarding, disbursement, and compliance with NCAA and federal regulations.  In her new role, she will continue to oversee athletics scholarships as well as the accounting and internal compliance sections for the Office of Financial Aid.

Prior to Florida State, Jones served as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance at Georgia State University.  There her responsibilities included all aspects of the NCAA compliance program for the department of athletics, including rules education, interpretation, and policy implementation.  She also had oversight of five sports as well as the sports medicine office including budgeting, operations, and personnel decisions.

A native of Rochester, NY, Jones’ previous experience in collegiate administration includes stints at St. John Fisher College, Georgia State University and Georgia Tech.  Jones graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University in 1990 and holds a master’s degree in education – sports administration from Georgia State University.

Jones is married to Trey Jones, Director of Golf and the couple have two children, Jordan (currently a senior at FSU) and Drew (currently a junior at Florida State University School/Florida High).

In her free time, Jones is an avid exercise enthusiast and has competed in numerous triathlons, half marathons, and the Tallahassee marathon.  She also enjoys spending time on the beach with her family and cheering on the Seminoles.
