
Jacob Simonis joined the Florida State University Athletics Department in September of 2021 as the Assistant Director of Compliance, where he oversees the NCAA initial eligibility and admissions process for all prospective student-athletes enrolling at FSU. Simonis is also the primary compliance contact for Florida State’s Men’s and Women’s Tennis, and Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving teams. He was recently promoted to Associate Director of Compliance.
Prior to arriving at FSU, Simonis spent time at the University of Notre Dame, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the College of the Holy Cross. The first experiences he had in collegiate athletics were as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Men’s Soccer team and as an Athletics Compliance intern at the College of the Holy Cross from September 2019 to July 2020. Simonis then transitioned to Virginia Commonwealth University as a Graduate Assistant in Athletic Compliance for the 2020-2021 academic year. From May 2021 to August 2021, he completed an Externship with the Athletics Compliance Office at the University of Notre Dame. Simonis is an active member of the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC).
Simonis is originally from Webster, Massachusetts. He was a four-year member of the Men’s Soccer team at Coker University where earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration in December 2018. After graduation, he pursued a professional soccer career in Iceland, and in the United States with various teams. In August 2021, he earned a Master of Sport Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.
