Begins second year with the program as an operations assistant, where he worked under the director of sprints, hurdles and relays during the 2018-19 season.
Tasked with a variety of assignments, he was a contributor to the Noles’ sixth-place men’s NCAA Indoor and 10th-place women’s NCAA Outdoor team finishes in 2019. The FSU men shared the ACC Indoor title while the women won the ACC Outdoor crown in runaway fashion.
Walton joined the Seminole staff after four years as athletic director and assistant track & field coach at Cincinnati’s Withrow High. There he helped guide the girls team to three consecutive Ohio Division 1 state titles (2015-17), while also assisting the boys team. Helped 18 Withrow athletes to all-state honors, with seven individual state titles and 16 runner-up performances. There he mentored eight student-athletes who signed to continue their careers at the NCAA Division I level.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Akron, where he played football under Terry Bowden, the son of legendary FSU coach Bobby Bowden. Walton earned an MBA from Tiffin University. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Walton credits Withrow head coach Darren Braddix for providing mentorship in his coaching career.
