Ryan Bartow was named Florida State’s director of high school relations on Feb. 16, 2021.
Bartow brought experience as director of high school relations at both Oregon and Syracuse. In 2020 at Syracuse, he managed all recruiting interactions between the staff, recruits and their families, as well as evaluated prospects to set the Orange’s recruiting board. Bartow was the primary recruiter for seven of Syracuse’s top signees, helping Syracuse lock up its second-best recruiting class in the past decade. In 2018 at Oregon, Bartow was responsible for evaluations, communications, recruiting boards, coordinating travel for in-home visits and handling on-campus visits from recruits and families.
In between stints at Oregon and Syracuse, Bartow was a west coast scout for coaching technology company XOS. In that role, he would attend high school games and practices in order to evaluate student-athletes for the XOS database as well as develop reports for subscribers and maintain relationships with existing clients while also increasing new relationships with prospective clients.
Prior to joining the Oregon staff, Bartow covered recruiting for 12 years. He was 247Sports’ lead college football recruiting reporter from 2013-17, leading the country each year in breaking college football recruiting news. Prior to his time with 247Sports, Bartow was the recruiting analyst and associate editor of TigerIllustrated.com, a Rivals site covering Clemson, from 2006-13. He began his career as a reporter covering the University of North Carolina’s recruiting efforts as well as the football and basketball beats for TarHeelsIllustrated.com beginning in 2005.
Bartow earned his bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 2003.
