Steve Stone is in his 12th year at Florida State University and currently serves as Associate Sports Information Director. He spent his first three years serving as Florida State’s indoor volleyball and softball contact before shifting to women’s basketball duties in 2013. Stone has also assisted heavily in football and men’s basketball weekly and game operations. Starting in July 2015 he added FSU Men’s Golf duties to his task list, and temporarily assisted indoor volleyball beginning in Aug. 2020 to July 2022.

As of May 2022, Stone oversees both Florida State Athletics’ Seminoles.com website as well as its main athletics social media accounts on @Seminoles.

Stone has worked in a variety of areas with women’s basketball, volleyball and men’s golf, including running each team’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts while also being the main graphic designer for his three sports and creating daily content. He also sticks to his sports information roots as well, compiling statistics, producing game notes, pitching story ideas, focusing on gameday event management and setting up interviews. On football gamedays, as well as for basketball, he has worked with Florida State’s information technology office to ensure the proper connectivity of all live statistics.

Prior to Florida State, he spent three years serving as both a graduate assistant and student assistant in the West Virginia University sports communications office beginning in 2007. A Rochester, N.Y., native, Stone worked three seasons as WVU’s baseball sports information director and also was the school’s wrestling and women’s tennis contact. He also was an assistant to WVU’s Director of New Media, and took part in both football and basketball game operations as well.

Prior to coming to the WVU sports communications office, Stone worked as a media relations intern for the Rochester Red Wings baseball club, where he assisted in updating the website, writing game recaps and marketing the team.

Stone is a graduate of WVU’s Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism, earning a Bachelors degree in 2008 with an emphasis in news-editorial. He also earned his Masters of Science degree in sport management, and has twice received the Gianodis Journalism scholarship.

In June 2012 Stone married the former Ashley Hall in Rochester, N.Y. The two have two children: Lily Anne Stone (7) and Lucas Patrick Stone (2 1/2).
