TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Stuart Tapley’s season got off to a great start as the sophomore third baseman was named a Preseason All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Tapley earned third team honors from the NCBWA a week after being named to the Brooks Wallace Award Preseason Watch List.
All Tapley did in his first season at Florida State was register the tenth highest batting average in school history for a player with under 200 at-bats. The Freshman All-American finished second on the team in batting (.383) accumulating 75 hits in 196 at-bats. He tied for fourth with eight home runs while driving in 40 runs in 57 starts. Tapley settled in nicely at third base as he closed out the year on a 34-game errorless streak.
A total of nine student-athletes from the Atlantic Coast Conference – including four first-team selections – were named to the NCBWA All-America teams.
