TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Continuing to build toward the future, FSU head coach Chris Poole announced the signing of Sydney Conley, a right side hitter from Oviedo, Fla., who will join the Seminoles in 2020.
“Sydney is rated as one of the top right side hitters in the country and ranked No. 55 overall by PrepVolleyball.com on their Top 100 list of all seniors in the country,” said Poole. “She has the total package with her offensive game that is built to score points and her defensive skills at the net as a blocker. We are very fortunate that Sydney has decided to graduate early and will be on campus in January. She has played at the highest level of club volleyball and has tremendous experience in big-time matches playing for National Championships. She is a very humble young lady and a hard worker. Syd will make a great addition to our program.”
During her time at Hagerty High School, Conley posted 674 kills and a .329 hitting percentage as she led the Huskies to the 2019 FHSAA 7A State Championship, as well as the FHSAA 8A Quarterfinals in 2018 and the FHSAA 8A Semifinals in 2017. She added 161 blocks, including 68 solo blocks, along with 69 service aces in her career to earn a pair of All-Conference Honors and was also named an Under Armour All-American Honorable Mention in 2019.
With her club team, she earned AAU National Championships in 2017 and 2018, while finishing as the runner-up in 2019. They also finished in first place at the Triple Crown in each of the last three seasons, and placed in the top five at the Girls Junior National Championships in 2017 and 2018.
“I loved the coaching staff and had a great feeling when I visited,” said Conley. “It felt like the perfect fit.”
