TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Incoming Florida State Women’s Basketball guard Ta’Niya Latson has been named the 2022 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Basketball.
The five-star guard from Miami comes to Florida State as the nation’s top-ranked shooting guard in the 2022 signing class. She inked her National Letter of Intent for the Seminoles on Nov. 17, 2021.
Playing at American Heritage High School this past year, Latson averaged 27.2 points, 7.0 assists, 8.0 rebounds, 5.3 steals and 2.0 blocks per game. She is the second consecutive Seminole to win the Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Basketball award, joining All-ACC Freshman point guard O’Mariah Gordon from 2021.
Latson recently was the 12th Seminole to compete in the McDonald’s All-American Game, scoring 15 points with three rebounds and a blocked shot in 13 minutes.
The dynamic guard received 13 of the statewide panel’s 19 first-place votes to finish ahead of several other standouts from Florida. Latson was also recently announced as the Florida Class 5A Player of the Year.
In her junior season, Latson led Westlake High School to a national title and averaged 23.7 points, 2.8 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 0.5 blocks while shooting 62 percent from the floor.
