The Florida State men’s tennis team will travel down to Tampa for the annual Bedford Cup. The three-day event will begin on Sept. 23 at 8 a.m. at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts. The Seminoles will join USF, Florida, Stetson, UNF, FAU, FGCU, FAMU and Bethune-Cookman in the weekend-long competition. The Bedford Cup is an annual traveling tournament, bringing together Division I tennis programs in Florida. It began in 2011 and has previously been hosted by FGCU, Florida, Florida State and UNF. Freshmen Alex Knaff, Rana Roop Singh Bhullar and junior Guy Iradukunda will compete in singles for the Seminoles.
In the doubles draw, Knaff will play with Singh Bhullar, while Iradukunda will play with redshirt junior Jose Gracia.
On Friday at 9:30 a.m., Singh Bhullar/Knaff will face the winner of Burnett/Haushammer of FAU and Almedia/Chepik for Bethun-Cookman.
Also at 9:30, Iradukunda/Gracia will face the winner of Landert/Chaffin of FGCU and Carvajal/Nickerson of FAU.
In singles play, Singh Bhullar will battle Stetson’s William Shkrob at 11:00 a.m.
Knaff will play against Jefta Lecic of UNF, while Iradukunda will face Stetson’s Loic Blanco. Both matches will begin at 12:45 p.m.
