TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State men’s tennis team heads into their second weekend of fall competition as they will be split up across the country. Four Seminoles are heading to Tulsa, Okla. to compete in the ITA All-American Championship, while the rest of the Noles are heading to Lake Nona, Fla. to compete in the Bedford Cup.
“This is a big weekend for the team with everyone being involved,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist.
Redshirt senior Lucas Poullain will be competing in the main draw of the All-American Championship beginning on Oct. 4. Junior Alex Knaff will begin play on Oct. 1 in the qualifying draw. Junior Rana Bhullar and sophomore Chase Wood begin play on Sept. 29 in the pre-qualifying draw.
Each player has an opportunity to advance to the next draw by winning through their draw.
“The All-American tournament is one of the two biggest tournaments in the fall and we are pleased to have players representing Florida State in all three of the draws,” said Hultquist.
The rest of the Seminoles will be competing in the Bedford Cup hosted by the University of Central Florida. There will be three singles draws and two doubles draws.
“We appreciate what the Bedford Cup does for college tennis and enjoy competing in that event every year against all of the schools in the state of Florida,” said Hultquist.
The Bedford Cup is an all-Florida Tournament sponsored by the Youth Tennis Foundation of Florida. It will host 10 of the 11 Division I tennis teams in the state of Florida, including Stetson, UNF, FAU, FGCU, FAMU, UCF, USF, FIU, Miami and Bethune-Cookman.
