TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State will send five members of the swimming and diving team to the 2012 NCAA Championships, starting on March 15-17 at Auburn University.

The five that are heading to Auburn are freshman Elizabeth Pepper, sophomores Julia Henkel, Tiffany Oliver, Katrina Young and junior Ariel Rittenhouse. The Seminoles are sending four more to the meet than they did last season.

A native from Poolesville, Md.,Pepper broke the school record at the Bulldog Invitational in the 200 fly, touching in at a 1:56.92, qualifying her for the meet. She took down Lauren Sprag’s mark of 1:57.87 which was set in 2008. Pepper will swim the 200 fly on Saturday.

Oliver broke her own school record in the 100 free at the Bulldog Invitational, posting a 48.93 in the 100 free. Oliver is scheduled to compete first in the 50 free on Thursday before swimming the 100 free on Saturday.

Henkel was invited to the meet after her school record breaking 400 IM performance at the Bulldog Invitational of 4:11.91. Henkel’s event is scheduled for Friday.

Rittenhouse made the cut for the NCAA meet at the Zone B Qualifier where she finished fifth on one-meter and sixth on three-meter. The Santa Cruz, Calif. native will dive on all three boards, but will look to go big on the springboard events.

Joining Rittenhouse in the diving portion of the meet will Young. The 2012 ACC Champion on the Platform, finished third in the event at the Zone B Qualifier, giving her an automatic bid to NCAA’s. In addition to her specialty, Young will also dive the spring board events.

The women’s one-meter springboard will be Thursday, the three-meter springboard will run on Friday and the meet will finish up with the Platform on Saturday.
