TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Tickets for Florida State’s two games in the Emerald Coast Classic at The Arena at Northwest Florida College in Niceville go on sale Monday, August 26th at 11:00 a.m. ET. The Seminoles play Tennessee on November 29 and either Purdue or VCU on November 30 in the eight-team tournament that brings the best in college basketball to the Emerald Coast in Florida’s Panhandle.
Fans can purchase tickets, which start at $20, at the tournament website, www.emeraldcoastclassic.com.
The eight-team tournament is headlined by Florida State, Purdue, Tennessee and VCU which all played in the NCAA Tournament. The semifinal round games on November 29 will feature Florida State playing Tennessee at 6 p.m. (CT), followed by VCU facing Purdue at 8:30 p.m. (CT). The championship game on Nov. 30 will tip off at 6 p.m. (CT) with the third-place game set for 3 p.m. (CT).
Florida State was ranked No. 10 in the final 2018-19 Associated Press poll, winning a school record 29 games, winning 16 of its last 19 games and finishing with a 29-8 record he Seminoles advanced to the NCAA tournament for the second consecutive season, reaching the Sweet Sixteen.
Florida State is one of only of only six teams in the nation (Florida State, Purdue, Texas Tech, Michigan, Kentucky and Duke) who have played in the Sweet 16 in reach of the last two seasons. The Seminoles advanced to the Elite Eight in the 2018 NCAA Tournament and the Sweet 16 of the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
The Seminoles’ appearance in the championship rounds of the 2019 Emerald Coast Classic will serve as a homecoming for Florida State senior Trent Forrest who is from Chipley, Fla. Forrest graduated from Chipley High School in 2016 and was named to the USA Today All-State Second-Team in Florida as a senior. He finished third in the voting for the prestigious Mr. Basketball Award in the state of Florida following and played in the 12th Annual All-Star Classic at Rutherford High School following his senior season. Forrest led Chipley in scoring, rebounding and assists in each of his four seasons as a member of the varsity team and totaled 3,103 career points in his four seasons. Forrest averaged a single-season school record 29.6 points, 9.4 rebounds and 6.2 assists as a senior.
Florida State’s plays two exhibition games – October 22 against Barry College and November 1 against Columbus State — before opening its regular season at Pittsburgh in an ACC contest on November 6. The Seminoles play their home opener against Western Carolina on Nov. 15 – the night before the FSU football team plays host to Alabama State.
