Times And Ticket Prices Set For NCAA Soccer Tournament In Tallahassee

Nov. 12, 2002

Tallahassee, FL –
The 21st-ranked Seminole soccer team will open NCAA Tournament play at home Friday night at 7:00 p.m. versus the University of Mississippi. This is the second time in three year’s that head coach Patrick Baker’s Seminoles have hosted the opening round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championships but the first time since the field expanded to 64 teams. In Friday’s first game, Auburn will square off with UCF at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are now available on-line at or by calling 1-888-FSU-NoLE.

Florida State has played remarkably well at home on Friday nights since Baker took over the program in 1999. The Tribe has never lost a home game on Friday night since 1999 posting a record of 11-0-2 including a perfect 4-0-0 mark versus ranked teams. In all night games at the Seminole Soccer Complex, Baker’s squads have posted a record of 16-5-3. In those four years, FSU has defeated No. 6 Florida (2000), No. 7 Texas A&M (2000), No. 20 Wake Forest (2000), No. 2 North Carolina (2000), No. 21 Maryland (2001), No. 17 Clemson (2002) and No. 21 Florida (2002).

“We have a wonderful atmosphere at our field and our fans have been so supportive over the last four seasons,” said Baker. “We have fought very hard for the right to host an NCAA Tournament game and our administration has been wonderfully supportive in their attempts to first bring the ACC Tournament to Tallahassee and now the NCAA Tournament. Soccer fans in our community are going to be treated to some great soccer for the second weekend in-a-row.”

If the Seminoles are able to advance to the Round of 32, which they have done both years they have made the tournament, they will face the winner of the Auburn/UCF game Sunday, November 17 at 1:00 p.m. That game will also be played at the Seminole Soccer Complex on the campus of Florida State University.

Tickets for Friday’s session (both games) and Sunday’s session (one game) are currently available. They can be purchased at the FSU Athletic Ticket Office at Doak Campbell Stadium, ordered over the phone at (850) 644-1830 or 1-888-FSU-NoLE and can also be ordered on-line at Tickets for adults are $7.00 per session.
