#1 FLORIDA STATE (26-5, 2-1 ACC)

Florida State, ranked No. 1 in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches and Collegiate Baseball polls, hit the road for the second straight weekend to face North Carolina. The Seminoles won two of three at Virginia last weekend in their first ACC series of the year. All-American third baseman Ryan Barthelemy (.436) is riding a 13-game hitting streak and has hit safely in 46 of his last 47 games. He leads the team with seven home runs and 44 RBI. Sophomore Tony McQuade, who leads the team with a .466 batting average, returned last weekend from a groin injury that had sidelined him for almost a month. Starting SS Stephen Drew (.346) has been out since Feb. 1 with a fractured left foot and is not expected to play this week.

North Carolina defeated Princeton (15-2 & 16-2) on Tuesday and Wednesday to improve to 12-8 on the year. The Tar Heels swept Maryland last weekend in their ACC opener and have now won six straight. RHP Scott Autrey (0-1, 4.94 ERA), RHP Garry Bakker (1-1, 3.47 ERA) and LHP Daniel Moore (2-0, 9.12 ERA) will make up the UNC rotation for the series.

Florida State leads the all-time series 44-11, which dates back to 1956. FSU swept the Tar Heels last season in Tallahassee by scores of 3-0, 12-6 and 8-7.

All three games at UNC will be carried live in Tallahassee by WFLA 1270, FSU’s flagship station. Lee Bowen will begin coverage 15 minutes prior to game time. Live stats can be followed via the internet at or
