Track And Field Hosts Clinic For The Big Bend Boys And Girls Club

March 18, 2008

On March 11th, some members of the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field team hosted a clinic for the children of the Big Bend Boys and Girls Club, helping the young children prepare to run the 1 mile run at the Tallahassee Springtime 10K on March 29.

The kids worked on stretching, race preparation, and participated in an obstacle course. Although rain put a damper on the outdoor activities, it was a great event full of familiar faces, as many of the participants remembered the names of returning student athletes from last year.

Each year the Gulf Winds Track Club presents the Springtime 10k/ 1 mile road race, sponsored by Capital Health Plan.

The USATF certified course begins with a 3/4 mile downhill stretch, covers rolling hills through the beautiful Myers Park neighborhood and finished flat and fast one half mile from the start area. The Fun Station One Miler course is mostly downhill beginning and ending at the same locations as the Springtime 10k course.
