Two-Day Camp Set for November

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State beach volleyball head coach Brooke Niles added her second transfer of the offseason on Friday when she announced that former Stetson standout and 2016 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American Sara Putt will join the Seminoles beginning in the 2017-18 campaign. Putt, a Jupiter, Fla., native will sit out the 2016-17 campaign due to NCAA transfer rules and pursue her degree in dietetics.

“Sara is one of the best college beach volleyball players in the country and we are so excited to have her on our side of the net,” said Niles. “As an All-American I know that Sara is hungry to improve her skills and push her new team. I can’t wait to wait to get her on the court.”

Putt capped off her freshman campaign with the Hatters at the 2016 NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship after posting a 32-3 overall mark alongside teammate Vendy Strakova. Helping Stetson to maintain a Top 10 ranking in the AVCA Coaches Poll throughout the season, the tandem posted a perfect 11-0 mark in Atlantic Sun regular season and postseason.

Putt and Strakova won their first 21 straight matches to start the season as they established the Stetson and Atlantic Sun record for most dual match victories (32). They also posted eight AVCA Top 25 victories against top teams from No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 Hawaii, No. 10 Georgia State, No. 10 Florida International, No. 12 LSU, No. 18 Tulane, No. 19 South Carolina and No. 20 Florida Atlantic.

“I am so pumped to be a Seminole,” said Putt of her transfer to Florida State. “It’s an honor to be a part of this team, but I also know there is a lot of work ahead of me. I am ready to get out on the court and start working to improve my game so that we can reach our goals as a team and bring a national championship to Florida State.”
