College football fans are in for a special treat when Sun Sports debuts the next edition of its acclaimed UNDER THE LIGHTS series. Legendary Seminoles’ head coach Bobby Bowden granted exclusive access and interviews to the regional sports network as it shadowed him throughout the 2008 college football season.  Hosted by Sun Sports’ Paul Kennedy and co-produced by Mike Wargo and Jeff DeMoss, UNDER THE LIGHTS: A SEASON WITH Bobby Bowden premieres on Tuesday, February 3 at 6pm with multiple encore presentations, including 2/6, 1pm;  2/8, 2pm; 2/10, 1pm; 2/8, 2pm, 2/9, 10pm; 2/14, 2pm; 2/21 at 8pm and 2/24, 7:30pm (N. & Cent. FL ).

Bowden sat down for three exclusive interviews and gave a first-person account of his evaluations along the way as only he uniquely can.  Fans will hear his personal thoughts on how coaching has changed over the years and what still motivates him after over 50 years in the college game.

“He is the rarest of men,” said Kennedy.  “His personal character impeccable.  His drive to win remains relentless. And three decades of players adore him.  Having had the privilege of working with and knowing him for more than 20 years through our partnership with FSU, I am honored to be hosting this remarkable, behind-the-scenes profile of one of college football’s all-time greats.”

Sun Sports’ cameras were granted exclusive behind-the-scenes access into the team’s locker room for several games throughout the season.   Fans will enjoy reliving highlights which include Bowden’s 500th game as head coach (against Colorado), his birthday victory against Clemson and what he calls “one of the best Florida State vs. University of Miami games that I’ve ever been a part of,” at Dolphin Stadium.

Viewers will get a chance to see Coach Bowden away from the football field and get a sense of the many obligations that make coaching at the very top of Division I football so challenging.  UNDER THE LIGHTS also offers comments from Bowden’s wife Ann, Alabama head coach Nick Saban, Georgia head coach Mark Richt, and current Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder who speak about Bowden’s character and the impact he has made on each of their lives.

The Emmy Award-winning UNDER THE LIGHTS series draws upon Sun Sports’ longstanding television partnerships with many of the state’s professional and collegiate teams providing viewers with a behind-the-scenes look at some of Florida’s top sports stories and newsmakers away from the playing fields.  Given unparalleled access by the schools, coaches and teams, the series allows viewers to witness preparations rarely seen by anyone outside the teams/programs.
