TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Back in Tully Gym this weekend, RV Florida State (10-5, 4-2 ACC) will host a pair of ACC opponents as Boston College (14-5, 5-1 ACC) and Syracuse (5-8, 2-4 ACC) come to Tallahassee for matches on October 18 and 20.
Friday night’s match against Boston College will be FSU’s annual Paint It Pink match, where the team wears pink jerseys and several fundraisers and events will happen throughout the match for breast cancer awareness and raise money for the Tallahassee Memorial Breast Health Center.
“It is a great opportunity to raise money and awareness for breast cancer, as nearly everyone knows, or is related to, someone who has battled through it,” said FSU head coach Chris Poole. “Boston College has been really competitive this season and it will definitely be a challenge for us on Friday night. And we needed five sets to beat Syracuse on the road last year, so it will be another weekend that we need to be focused and execute consistently to be successful.”
Florida State is 22-1 all-time against Boston College, including winning each of the last 16 matches in the series, dating back to 2008. The Noles have dropped a total of two sets in the last 10 matches against the Eagles.
The Seminoles are undefeated against Syracuse, earning a win in all eight of the previous matches, dating back to 1992. FSU has only lost five total sets against the Orange, including the first two in the match last season, before the Noles came from behind to win in five sets (23-25, 24-26, 25-16, 25-18, 15-12).
Friday’s match against Boston College will air on ACC Network Extra, while Sunday’s contest with Syracuse will be shown on the ACC Network. Links for the broadcast and live stats will be available on the volleyball schedule page on Seminoles.com.
