Tallahassee – The Florida State men’s and women’s track and field squads concluded the weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational on April 3, 2004.
Junior Kimberly Walker (Trinidad/Poly Technic Government) set a personal best record in the 100m dash, qualifying for the NCAA East Regionals with
a time of 11.59. Walker also posted a personal best, regional qualifying time in the 200m dash posting a 23.86.
Sophomore Matt Hurley (Tallahassee, FL/Chiles) tied his personal-best and
regional qualifying mark in the pole vault, posting a height of 16’4.75″.
Senior Courtney Wright (Bartonville, IL/Limestone Community) tied for first place with the Georgia’s Antonio Saunders for first with a personal-best mark of 24’3.5″.
The women’s 4x100m relay team of junior Sharneka Brown (St. Petersburg, FL/Florida A&M), sophomore Evelyne-Cynthia Niako (Stone Mountain, GA/Stephenson), sophomore Marla Jackson (Jacksonville, FL/Stanton College
Prep) and Walker qualified for regionals with a time of 45.12, en route to a second place finish.
Jackson tied a season-high mark of 5’4.25 in the high jump. Freshman Lindsey Nelson (Jacksonville, FL/Mandarin) bettered her season-best mark in the shot put, posting a throw of 46’1.5″. Sophomore LaToya Legree (Lithonia, GA/Stephenson) took third in the triple jump with a mark of 40’4.25″.
The Seminoles return to action at home with the Seminole Invitational April 10, 2004.
