Wallin And Heath Earn All-ACC W. Golf Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Florida State All-American Beatrice Wallin has been named the 2021 ACC Golfer of the Year in a vote by the league’s 12 head coaches. It marks the second time in the last three years and second time in school history that a Seminole has been named as the ACC Women’s Golfer of the Year. Frida Kinhult was named as the ACC Co-Player of the Year in 2019. Wallin and freshman Charlotte Heath were named to the All-ACC Golf team, marking the 20th consecutive season at least one Seminole has earned All-ACC Honors.

For Wallin it’s the second consecutive time she has earned All-ACC honors after earning All-ACC honors as a freshman in 2019. Heath has been named to the All-ACC for the first time in her career. With Wallin and Heath earning All-ACC honors, it marks the fifth consecutive season that multiple Seminoles have earned All-ACC Honors.

“I’m very honored to be chosen as the ACC player of the year,” said Wallin. “I’m very happy and thankful that my work has allowed me to achieve the results to even be considered.”

Wallin enters the 2021 NCAA Louisville Regional Championship (May 10-12) as the highest ranked ACC Golfer (No. 3) by GolfWeek. She is the ACC leader with a career-low and program-record 70.28 stroke average. She has earned two tournament wins (Florida State Match-Up and Pinetree Collegiate) this spring and finished five of six events under par (she’s a total of 31 strokes under par this spring). Wallin shot a career-low and program-record tying 65 in second round of Pinetree Collegiate and is Florida State’s leading finisher in four of six events. Wallin finished with a three-round score of 204 in Florida State Match Up – a mark that is tied for fifth-best in school history while her -12 under par total in the FSU Match Up is also tied for fifth in school history.

Wallin and Heath led Florida State to the team championships of Florida State Match-Up and Pinetree Collegiate.

“Bea has had a great year thus far and to be named ACC Player of the Year is exciting,” said Head Coach Amy Bod. “The Player of the Year award is voted on by the coaches in the ACC so it is nice that others have recognized her tremendous play. I am thrilled that her hard work is paying dividends as she has made the effort to improve her overall game. I am proud of her accomplishments so far, and I look forward to what is to come the rest of the year.”

Heath is the highest ranked ACC freshmen golfer (No. 17) by Golfweek with 11 wins over the nation’s top-25 ranked golfers. She is ranked as the No. 6 overall ACC golfer by stroke average and has been an integral part of Florida State’s No. 1 national ranking and its runner-up finish at the ACC Championship. Heath is currently the ACC freshmen leader with three top-five individual finishes (T2 at Florida State Match-Up, T3 at Pinetree Collegiate, 5 at Moon Invitational) and is tied for the ACC lead among ACC freshmen with four top-10 finishes (T2 at Florida State Match-Up, T3 at Pinetree Collegiate, 5 at Moon Invitational, T8 at ACC Championship).

She has totaled 11 of 17 rounds at par or better, 16 of 17 rounds at 75 or better, and tied the program record with a 65 in the first round of the Valspar Augusta Invitational.
