Wallin, Doherty Lead Golf Through 1st Round Of Darius Rucker

HILTON HEAD, S.C. — At the conclusion of the first round of play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the Long Cove Club, the Seminoles are in 13th place. Florida State shot 20 over par for a total of 304.

Sophomore Beatrice Wallin and Senior Amanda Doherty are both tied for 25th place in the individual standings with scores of 74.

“It was a tough day for us,” said Head Coach Amy Bond. “The team scores are all bunched up, and if we can put together a good round tomorrow, like I know we can, we jump up and improve our team and individual standing.”

Wallin totaled three birdies and maintained steady play on the back nine holes. Her final birdie was on hole 10 followed by even par scores on the subsequent five holes.

Doherty started off the round with two birdies on the front nine holes and never scored more than one over par.

Wake forest leads the team standings and holds a five stroke lead over UCLA. The Demon Deacons shot 3 over par for a total of 287. Leading the individual standing is Wake Forest’s Rachel Kuehn who carded a score of 69.
