HANAHAN, S.C. ( – Sophomore Beatrice Wallin is in a tie for second place in the individual standings, and the Seminole Women’s Golf team is in fourth place in the team standings after the first two rounds of the Cougar Classic at the Yeamans Hall Club. Wallin begins play in the third and final round of the event only four strokes behind Auston Kim of Vanderbilt as she plays for the first individual victory of her career as a Seminole.

Vanderbilt and Wake Forest lead the team standings with identical two-round totals of 560. Both the Commodores and the Demon Deacons are 16-under par. Florida State is 14 strokes behind the co-leaders in the race for the team championship. Kim was the only player in the field of 93 players to shoot scores in the 60’s in the two rounds played on Monday. She holds a four stroke lead over Florida State’s Wallin, teammate Abby Carlson and Emelia Migliaccio of Wake Forest.

Seminole All-American Frida Kinhult is in a tie for eighth place in the individual standings with a two-round total of 141. She carded scores of 74 and 67 and enters the final round with a total of 141. Kinhult’s score of 67 in the second round was the 13th score in the 60’s during her Florida State career.

“We had two great rounds today which shows we have the potential to go deep with multiple players in the lineup,” said Head Coach Amy Bond. “We hope tomorrow we put five really good scores together which this team has the capable of doing.”

Wallin carded her career-best single round score of 5 under par 67 in the first round and totaled a 2 under par score of 70 in the second round. Wallin was on fire in the first round as she carded five birdies and 17 holes at par or better to finish with the third best round of the entire first round. She was as many as four strokes under par during the round and was two under par over her final 11 holes of the round. Wallin continued to play well in the second round as she totaled five more birdies and 15 holes scored at par or better. She was as many as three strokes under par in the second round.

“I put together two solid rounds today,” said Wallin. “I made some putts which allowed me to score well. We are all looking forward to playing tomorrow.”

Wallin finished the first day of play as one of four players with double digit birdies (10). The Seminoles finished the first 36 holes with a total of 30 birdies – tied for the seventh best among the 18 teams in the event.

Kinhult played outstanding golf in the second round as she carded a five under par 67 – the fifth time in her Florida State career that she has carded a single round score of 67 or better. Kinhult is only two strokes out of the top five in the individual standings and only seven strokes out of the lead as she plays for the third individual victory of her career.
