Williamson Named ACC Co-Golfer Of The Month

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ( – Florida State senior golfer Amelia Williamson, who won the individual championship at the Florida State Match Up, has been named the ACC Co-Golfer of the Month of February.  She averaged 70.33 strokes in six rounds during two tournaments, was a total of 10 strokes under par and earned two top-10 individual finishes during the month.  Williamson helped the Seminoles to the team championship at the Moon Invitational and to a second place finish at the Florida State Match Up at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course.

Williamson is the No. 1 ranked player in the ACC and the No. 8 overall player in the nation as ranked by Golfstat.  She is the only ACC player ranked in the top 15 in the nation by Golfstat. 

Williamson totaled scores of 72-70-71 for a 3 under par total of 213 to finish in ninth place at the Moon Invitational.  Her individual finish helped the Seminoles win the team championship with a wire-to-wire performance and wins over nine teams ranked in the nation’s top 25. 

Williamson totaled scores of 70-68-71 for a 7 under par total of 209 to finish as the individual champion at the Florida State Match Up.  She earned her season low score of a 68 in the second round – a score that moved her into first place in the individual standings, where she remained for the duration of the tournament on the Seminoles’ home course. 

Williamson carded five of six (including five consecutive) round scored at under par in the two events during the month of February.  She is currently the team leader with a 70.33 stroke average this spring and is Florida State’s leader with a 70.47 stroke average this year (fall and spring seasons combined).

Williamson was named the co-ACC Golfer of the Month along with Carolina Chacarra of Wake Forest.

Williamson and Florida State continue their spring season at the Valspar Augusta Invitational at the Forest Hill Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. (March 12-13).  The Seminoles have earned five top-four team finishes including championships at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup and the Moon Invitational.
