TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ( – Florida State Women’s Basketball tied a program record with four All-ACC Academic Team selections, announced on Wednesday by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Juniors Kourtney Weber (Retail Entrepreneurship), Valencia Myers (Interdisciplinary Social Science), Morgan Jones (Sport Management) and Sammie Puisis (Finance) were recognized on the list, which requires a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career.

Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

“Our program takes huge pride in being excellent in the classroom,” Interim Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff said. “The commitment that Morgan, Valencia, Sammie and Kourtney have made to their academic success is impressive. They take advantage of everything Florida State University has to offer and are continually putting in the work to set themselves up for an exciting future.”

Jones is one of 23 student-athletes who earned All-ACC athletic honors as well as academic honors. She is a two-time honoree on the All-ACC Academic Team, while Weber, Puisis and Myers are first-time representatives.

The Seminoles have garnered four All-ACC Academic Team selections three other times in program history, including in 2006, 2017 and 2018.

ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters. The award is based 60 percent on academic achievement and 40 percent on athletic accomplishment.

Louisville’s Dana Evans was named the recipient of the 2020-21 Kay Yow Award as the ACC Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year to headline the All-ACC Women’s Basketball Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
