Florida State plays its fourth game ever on Thanksgiving, showing a 2-1 all-time record on the holiday with its last game played against Winthrop at the 2016 Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands. FSU won that game, 98-35, and would end up winning that tournament as well.

FSU and BYU meet for the third time in series history, but the first time since Nov. 19, 1983, when the Cougars defeated the Seminoles, 76-61, at the Lady Buff Classic in Boulder, Colo. The year prior, FSU defeated BYU, 75-71, at the WNIT in Amarillo, Texas.

The Seminoles offer a lot of promise in the 2021-22 season, returning nearly all of their players and adding a strong freshmen class. Nearly 93 percent of FSU’s scoring returns from a season ago, a team that navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic to earn its eighth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.

FSU begins the 2021-22 season on Tuesday, Nov. 9, hosting UNF at the Donald L. Tucker Center in what will be Head Coach Sue Semrau’s first game back on the sidelines since taking a single-season leave of absence last year to assist in her mother’s fight against cancer.

The Seminoles start preseason camp at the FSU Basketball Training Center on Tuesday, Sept. 28.
