Women’s Hoops Signs Four-Star Guard Brittany Brown

Nov. 14, 2012

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – Florida State women’s basketball head coach Sue Semrau announced the signing of four-star prospect Brittany Brown, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., on Wednesday.

Brown, a 5-8 combo guard, stars for Choctawhatchee High School, was a 2011-12 Florida Association of Coaches 6A All-State selection and is rated the fourth-best player in the state by National Basketball Insider. She is the first member of Florida State’s 2013 Class to sign her National Letter of Intent.

“Brittany is one of the most hard-nosed guards we have ever signed,” Semrau said. “She’s very versatile and is a great defender. Brittany can flat out score, too. You bring in a well-rounded guard – like a Brittany Brown – and you combine her with some of the post depth we expect to have these next few years, and you’ve got a spectacular inside-outside combination for years to come.”

She averaged 23 points, seven assists, six rebounds and six steals a game as a junior, while leading her Choctaw squad to a 25-2 record.

The two-time Northwest Florida Daily News Player of the Year is rated the No. 64 prospect in the country by All Star Girls Report, No. 85 by ESPN HoopGurlz and No. 118 by Blue Star Basketball.

Brown competes for the Miami Suns on the AAU circuit and is coached at Choctaw by her father, Don Brown.
