Tallahassee, FL – Following one of the most successful seasons in the history of the program, the academic accolades continue for the FSU women’s tennis team. Five Seminoles were named ITA Scholar Athletes and the Seminoles were awarded ITA Academic Team honors for the 11th straight season.
The Seminole women’s tennis team has earned the ITA Academic Team award every year since 2011. The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2018 and spring 2019). Overall, the FSU women’s tennis team posted a GPA of 3.657 in the spring while advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals and finishing ranked seventh in the nation.
Victoria Allen, Nandini Das, Andrea Garcia, Giulia Pairone and Emmanuelle Salas were all named ITA Scholar Athletes. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current\academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
This is the second time that Garcia has been named an ITA Scholar-Athlete selection. The R-SR received All-America honors for the first time in her career in 2021 and was on the Dean’s List in the fall of 2020. This is the first selection for Allen, Das, Pairone and Salas. Das, Garcia and Pairone all earned All-America honors in 2021. Pairone was the Seminoles’ only All-American in singles and Das paired with Garcia to earn All-American honors in doubles.
