TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The 12/20 ranked Florida State women’s tennis team (8-1) heads to Gainesville on Tuesday for their first road test as they take on the 24th ranked Florida Gators (2-2) at 5 pm in the Fresh From Florida Sunshine Showdown.
Florida State has won their last two meetings against the Gators, with both wins coming in 2018. The Seminoles first defeated the Gators 4-1 as a part of College MatchDay at the USTA National Campus. The two in-state rivals met up once again in the postseason with a shot at making it to the NCAA final site on the line. Florida State took them down once again, this time 4-3 In Gainesville
The Gators enter this season’s match-up with three ranked singles players and a 2-2 record. Florida’s three ranked singles players are Ida Jarlskog (17), McCartney Kessler (39), Victoria Emma (43).
Last Time Out
Florida State took down rival and No. 15 Miami 5-2 in Tallahassee. The Seminoles lost their first doubles point of the season but quickly bounced back to take five of six firsts sets. Rain then began to fall and the match was forced indoors. FSU went on to win five singles matches and defeated Miami. The Seminoles also defeated cross-town foe Florida A&M 4-1. The only point that was given up was because Florida State did not play on court six and forfeited the point.

In the latest Oracle/ITA poll, Florida State comes in at No. 20. This marks the 17th straight week that the Noles have been ranked in the ITA Poll dating back to February 10, 2018. The Seminoles come in at No. 12 in this week’s USTA Poll.
The Seminoles have three ranked singles players (Carla Touly – 49, Ana Oparenovic – 103 and Emmanuelle Salas – 110).
