Women’s Tennis Heads to Georgia Tech Before Welcoming Notre Dame to Tallahassee

Match Notes

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The 22nd ranked Florida State women’s tennis team (11-3, 3-1) heads on the road this Friday to take on No. 31 Georgia Tech (6-6, 3-2) at 3 pm before coming home to host No. 42 Notre Dame (10-5, 3-3).

The Noles are 19-16 all-time against Georgia Tech with an 8-7 record against them in Atlanta. The Yellow Jackets are led by their number one singles player Kenya Jones. Jones currently ranks 11th in the country and is 7-3 in dual matches and 3-4 against ranked opponents. In doubles, Jones has teamed up with Jeanette Lin. The two are ranked 73rd in the latest ITA doubles rankings and are 2-3 on court one with a 1-2 record against ranked opponents.

Notre Dame leads the all-time series with FSU 4-3. After losing the first three in the series the Seminoles are now on a two-match win streak against the Fighting Irish. Florida State last beat Notre Dame a year ago in Indiana 6-1. The Irish are led by their 58th ranked singles player Zoe Spence. She is 7-5 in dual matches with a 6-4 record on court one, she is 2-2 against ranked opponents. Spence has teamed up with Cameron Corse to form the 57th ranked doubles pair in the country. The two are 2-1 on court one.

Last Time Out
Florida State lost to Texas 4-1. After taking the doubles point for the 13th time in 14 matches the Noles lost four first sets. Four matches were forced to third sets but the Longhorns came out on top taking courts two, four, five and six.

In the latest Oracle/ITA poll, Florida State comes in at No. 22. This marks the 21st straight week that the Noles have been ranked in the ITA Poll dating back to February 10, 2018. The Seminoles stay at No. 11 in this week’s USTA Poll.
