Women’s Tennis Hosts No. 14 Wake Forest and Clemson

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The 20th ranked Florida State women’s tennis team (14-4, 6-2) is back home this weekend to host No. 14 Wake Forest (17-3, 7-1) on Friday, March 29th at 4 pm and Clemson (8-10, 2-6) on Sunday, March 31 at 12 pm.

Florida State trails the all-time series with Wake Forest 19-21 but is 8-8 against the Demon Deacons at home. The Seminoles are 12-5 against Wake under head coach Jennifer Hyde. Wake Forest is led by their 32nd ranked singles player Emma Davis. Davis is 14-3 this spring with all of her matches on court one. She is 10-6 against nationally ranked opponents including a straight-set win over Georgia Tech’s 11th ranked Kenya Jones. Davis also teams up with Chandler Carter to form the nation’s 38th ranked doubles pair. The two are 13-4 this spring with all their matches on court one and a 6-4 record against ranked opponents.

Florida State also trails in the all-time series against Clemson. The Noles and Tigers faced off already this season during ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Florida State dominated Clemson winning 4-0 at the Florida State Indoor Tennis Courts. Clemson has one ranked singles player, 125th ranked Marie Leduc and the 4th ranked doubles pair in Leduc and Fernanda Navaro. Leduc has spent the whole spring on court one, where she has gone 13-8 with a 10-11 record against ranked opponents during the 2018-19 season. Leduc and Navaro are 11-6 this spring and 4-8 against ranked opponents since the start of the fall.

Last Time Out
Florida State went 1-1 on the road last week. They earned a 4-3 win over Boston College on Friday before falling 4-3 to No. 32 Syracuse on Sunday.

In the latest Oracle/ITA poll, Florida State comes in at No. 20. This marks the 23rd straight week that the Noles have been ranked in the ITA Poll dating back to February 10, 2018.

The Seminoles have one ranked singles player in 26th ranked Carla Touly.
