TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The 15th ranked Florida State women’s tennis team kicks off their 2019 season this Friday in a doubleheader against FAU (11 a.m.) and Mercer (4 p.m.). Both matches will be played at the FSU Indoor Tennis Courts (2566 Pottsdamer St).
The Noles start the season at home where they went 9-3 in 2018. Florida State comes into 2019 returning 78 percent of their singles wins from 2018 including their top four win getters from a season ago.
The Garnet and Gold are 3-0 all-time against FAU including a perfect 2-0 record at home. The Seminoles have shutout the Owls once in the series back in 2017. When the two teams met a season ago the Noles won 6-1 with a match-clinching win from now junior Andrea Garcia.
Florida State has never lost to Mercer, garnering a 4-0 all-time record against the Bears. This includes a perfect 3-0 record at home and shutout victories in every match. They last played in 2018 when the Noles won 4-0 in Tallahassee.

In the latest Oracle/ITA poll, Florida State comes in at No. 15. This marks the 14th straight week that the Noles have been ranked in the ITA Poll dating back to February 10, 2018.
The Seminoles have two ranked singles players (Carla Touly – 39 and Ana Oparenovic – 125) and one ranked singles pair (Salas/Touly – 40).
