TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s tennis team added another strong piece to their roster for the 2018-19 season with the transfer of Ana Oparenovic, Arkansas’ 2018 leader in wins.
“We could not be more excited for Ana to join us this August,” said head coach Jennifer Hyde. “Ana brings a tremendous amount of experience from the highest levels with her to Florida State. She also brings a maturity and a drive that directly compliments the current culture and trajectory of our team.”
Oparenovic led the Razorbacks in both singles and doubles wins a season ago. She amassed 23 wins in singles with a 15-9 dual record. She played all of her matches on courts one and two with a 5-3 record on court one and a 10-6 record on court two.
In doubles, Oparenovic was 25-9 with a 17-5 record in the spring. She played all but one of her matches on court one and went 16-5.
Oparenovic was named All-SEC second team and was on the SEC All-Tournament team. She made it to the NCAA Doubles Championships this season and lost in the first round.
“Ana will have an immediate impact on many levels, and she wants to contribute in ways that will take us beyond the great accomplishments of the most historic season we just had,” said Hyde. “We are very excited for her to put on the Garnet and Gold for the Noles this fall.”
Oparenovic will join a roster that only loses one senior after a record-breaking season and the team’s first trip to the Elite 8.
