Women’s Tennis Picks Up Road Win At FGCU

Fort Myers, FL – The FSU women’s tennis team took a break from conference play Sunday traveling to Fort Myers to face Florida Gulf Coast. The Seminoles had a strong showing in doubles and dominated on courts 1-3 to in a 5-2 win over the Eagles. The victory moved FSU to 7-6 on the season.

The Seminoles got off to a good start securing the doubles point. Despite not having a team on court three due to injuries, FSU was able to secure wins on one and two. Petra Hule and Anna Arkadianou won their match on court one 6-3. On court two, Vic Allen and Kianah Motosono took their match 6-2.

Singles started out at 1-1 with FSU being limited with availability and not having anyone on court six but the top of the Seminole lineup cruised. Hule won her 12th straight match securing the win on court one 6-4, 6-1. On court two, Allen won in straight-sets 6-1, 6-3. Arkadianou then clinched the victory on three with a 6-2, 7-5 win. Motosono picked up the final point for the Seminoles with a three-set 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 victory.

The Seminoles will wrap up their run of six straight road matches next week in Virginia. FSU will face Virginia Friday and then travel to Blacksburg to face Virginia Tech Sunday.
